
The Reverend Bryant Wonnacott came from a line of Wonnacotts whose immediate family were all
ordained into the church.
Bryant was ordained in 1883 and held a curacy in the North of England until serving in the Armed Forces as Chaplain from 1986.
During his days in the armed forces Rev Bryant was attached to St Andrews Cathedral in Singapore from 1886-1889 where he played a very active role.
There was a boarding house ran by Raffles Institution which closed down in 1887 . Mr C.B. Buckley, a solicitor, took in the boys. He formed a committee consisting of the Bishop, the Archdeacon, the Rev. W.H. Gomes, the Rev. B. Wonnacott and Mr A.L. Donaldson ,who together founded the ST ANDREW’S HOUSE on 15 October 1887.
The institution was originally housed in a rented room in Armenian Street and Mr Bicknell was the Housemaster. The boarders were mainly European and Eurasian boys attending Raffles Institution. St Andrews House history is linked to the School which still operating today in Singapore and is now situated in Potong Pasir near Toa Payoh.
Reverend Bryant was the vicar St. Peters Edmonton near Enfield Middlesex in England between 1900 and 1910.
Father Brian Smith a recent vicar at St. Peters kindly sent this picture of a stone plaque laid in the wall at the church, and on which Reverend Bryant Wonnacott has his name clearly inscribed.

Between his return to England from Singapore and his appointment at St. Peters , Bryant was at St. Georges Church, Freezywater, Enfield, Middlesex in 1895.
