In 1942 he was repatriated to the US Navy and became another footnote to history as one of the few pilots serving as US Naval Aviators that had official combat kills before graduation from Naval Aviator Training.Glenn's Navy service was from late 1942 to a few weeks after VJ day in 1945. An earlier RAF crash left him with some injuries that the Navy felt were serious enough to keep him from further combat duties. As a result he was posted to in 1943 to NAS Opa Locka where he was assigned duties as a command pilot on the staff of Commander South Atlantic Fleet.
There are two pictures. The first showing showing Glenn with his brother LeRoy L.. Glenn is proudly wearing both the wings of the US Navy on the left breast and the Royal Air Force on the right breast.
